Artist Information

Photographer, maker and mudlark Mark Sowden, uses photography to document his investigation into the history and material culture contained within the urban landscape. 'Delftware Reconstruction' shows an ancient *sherd of Delft pottery (*sherd: an archeological term for a broken piece of ceramic material, especially one found on an historic site), found along the Thames river-bank, juxtaposed against its computer generated, 21st century offspring: a three dimensional reconstruction of the original piece.
